Václav Rubeška
Václav Rubeška is a contemporary sculptor known for his unique approach of hammering and subsequent welding to create sculptures. This technique is technically and technologically demanding, resulting in a limited number of artworks produced each year.
Rubeška's primary focus is on the figure, whether it be anatomically animals or humans. His work emphasizes the rawness of processed metal, typically steel, brass, or bronze. In the case of animal sculptures, they often depict motion or tense positions that convey a sense of the moment's tension. Human figures are characterized by twisting shapes.
Working with the chosen metal allows the author to create sculptures of a very sketchy or abstract nature, when he only paints the frame silhouettes of the figures. In the opposite direction, a sculpture will be created, processed in detail in such a way that it gives the impression of a cast.
Václav Rubeška enjoys showcasing the vast possibilities of forging metals in his works, resulting in sculptures of various sizes, from small-scale pieces to larger-than-life creations. The artist exclusively collaborates with the Knupp gallery, which exhibits his work in both the Czech Republic and on the West Coast of the USA.
