Martin Žák

Martin Žák (b.1992 in Bratislava) is a graduate of the figurative sculpture studio of Vojtěch Míč at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. In 2015 he completed a study internship in Venice, Italy. An essential part of Martin's work is work with light. The author builds on the principles of experience from the entire history of sculpture. Prudence and thoughtfulness alternate with ferocity and intuitiveness, sometimes bordering on psychic automatism. In his work, the external world mixes with the internal in various proportions, which enables him to achieve a very suggestive and at the same time comprehensible output. Whatever he embarks on, it is always based on perfect mastery of the craft of sculpture. The main inspiration for Martin's work is the ideas and forms of ancient art.
