Dana Bartoníčková

In 2018, Dana Bartoníčková (born 1988) completed her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, specializing in the Sculpture studio under Lukáš Rittstein. She also undertook a study internship at Cooper Union in New York in 2017. Her work bears certain characteristics of anthropological exploration, as it delves into the subject of prehistoric communities and explores the relationship between modern symbols. This exploration gives rise to a distinct visual language in her figurative concepts.

Most notably, Bartoníčková's recent work centers around the theme of female identity, which is reflected in her choice of material—soft and malleable wax. Her sculptures and paintings tell a narrative through the use of textile patterns, drawing connections to weaving, women's handiwork, and a broader exploration of ancestral roots.
